Contracts Quantity Surveyor (Commercial Builds)

This is a numbers job with boots on: bills of quantities, site measurements and payment claims in Soweto. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Soweto (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Update cash flow forecasts for the project manager
• Take off quantities from drawings to build a bill of quantities
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs

• You know the Standard System of Measuring Building Work
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
