Job Description

The municipal electricity department in Germiston needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Germiston-based, with most of your time spent at a municipal electricity department. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What your day looks like

Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

Must-haves

At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Nice if you have

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
PLC programming certification
Protection or HV operating authorisation
