Control and Instrumentation Engineer

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The municipal electricity department in Sandton needs you to make it so. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a municipal electricity department in Sandton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097

• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW

• Paid professional registration and training
• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Vehicle allowance for site work
