Job Description

You'll design, protect and maintain electrical systems for the electrical consulting engineering firm in Secunda. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Secunda, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

What your day looks like

Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

You'll need

Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Extra points for

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
PLC programming certification
