Control and Instrumentation Engineer – Experienced

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this electrical consulting engineering firm in Soweto needs a sharp electrical engineer. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Soweto. Relocation is not covered for this one. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
• Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
• Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
• PLC programming certification

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
• Paid professional registration and training
• Flexible hours on design days
• Vehicle allowance for site work

• List projects with their voltage level, size in kVA or MW, and whether you designed, supervised or commissioned.
