Cost Accountant (Food Processing Plant) – Permanent

Month-end, year-end and audit prep all run through you at a mid-sized manufacturing group in Brakpan. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

Home base is a mid-sized manufacturing group on the Brakpan side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
• Review creditors, debtors and payroll journals from the clerks
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Track stock costing, standard costs and production variances

• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience

• CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
• CIMA qualification for management accounting posts
• Completed articles at an audit firm

• Medical aid and retirement fund contributions
• Hybrid schedule outside month-end week
