Cost Estimator (Shopfitting)

The property development company in Bellville needs a QS who can price a tender and still defend a final account. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a property development company in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules
• Value variations and prepare claims under JBCC or GCC conditions
• Use measuring software to do take-offs from PDF and CAD drawings
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Measure work on site for monthly interim payment certificates
• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs

• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Code 08 licence for site visits
• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify

• Experience with civil bills using the SANS 1200 standard
• Estimating software experience on top of Excel

• Study support for an honours degree
• Travel allowance for site visits
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Hybrid days in the office and on site
