Creche Assistant (Baby Room) – Fixed-Term

Songs, stories, sandpits and routines: help a Montessori pre-school in Kathu give children a strong start. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Kathu-based, with most of your time spent at a Montessori pre-school. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
• Feed, change and settle babies and toddlers on their routine
• Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group
• Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic

• Matric
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
• ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• Warm, patient and energetic with small children
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer

• Sponsored ECD Level 5 studies
• Lunch provided on school days
• Reduced fees for your own child
• Short holiday closures over December and Easter

• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
• Add one sentence about an activity you ran that the children loved; it shows you can plan, not just supervise.
