Data Scientist (Customer Analytics) – Fixed-Term

Questions come to you at a short-term insurer in Brakpan, and you answer them with data. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a short-term insurer on the Brakpan side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Meet business users to turn their questions into report requirements
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models
• Check data quality and trace odd numbers back to the source
• Mask or remove personal information in data sets under POPIA
• Build ETL pipelines in SSIS, Azure Data Factory or Python
• Present findings to managers in plain language with clear charts
• Build simple forecasting and segmentation models in Python or R

• Strong SQL, including joins, window functions and CTEs
• At least 2 years in a data or reporting role (not needed for graduate posts)
• Advanced Excel
• Degree in statistics, maths, computer science, economics or a related field
• Hands-on Power BI, Tableau or a similar tool
• Careful with sensitive customer data

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or Fabric
• Microsoft PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst certification
• Industry knowledge in retail, insurance or credit
