Debtors Clerk (Radiology Practice)

At a busy general practice in Cape Town CBD, your job is clean files, correct codes and money that comes in on time. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Cape Town CBD (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Submit claims electronically and work through the rejection report daily
• Answer the phones and send clinical questions to the right nurse or doctor
• Take payments, issue receipts and balance the cash-up at close
• Open patient files and capture consent forms in line with POPIA
• Book appointments and manage the doctor's diary on the practice software

• Sound knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical aid tariff codes
• At least 2 years in a medical practice, hospital or billing bureau
• Friendly on the phone and firm about outstanding accounts
• Matric
• Confident with Excel and email
• Experience on a practice system such as GoodX, Elixir, Medinol or Healthbridge

• Worked for a specialist discipline such as radiology, anaesthesia or orthopaedics
• Medical terminology or clinical coding certificate

• Normal practice hours with most weekends off
• Free medical consultations for staff at some practices
• Bonus linked to collections at billing bureaus

• Specialist rooms care about the discipline, so say if you've coded for surgeons, anaesthetists or radiologists.
• Give numbers if you can, such as your rejection rate or how much you cut the 90-day debtors.
