Job Description

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a cement and brick yard in Durban Central wants. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll be based at a cement and brick yard in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What you'll actually do

Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises

What you need

Willing to travel on routes that return late
Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
No criminal record
Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips

Extra points for

A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
Past work as a driver's assistant
