Job Description

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a furniture retailer warehouse in Midrand wants. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a furniture retailer warehouse in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first

What you need

Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
Friendly with customers at the door
No criminal record
Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
