Job Description

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a parcel sorting hub in Somerset West wants. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The work is in Somerset West, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

The work, day to day

Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off

You'll need

Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
No criminal record
Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
Friendly with customers at the door

Nice if you have

Past work as a driver's assistant
Basic furniture assembly skills
Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
