Development Miner (Hard Rock)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The deep-level gold mine near Vanderbijlpark needs your crew leadership. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Book explosives in and out of the magazine and keep the register accurate
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Hold a start-of-shift safety talk and deal with any unsafe condition
• Stop work when a condition is unsafe, using your right to withdraw

• No serious safety transgressions in your record
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training

• Rock engineering or ventilation short courses
• Shift Supervisor certificate or Mine Overseer learning
• Experience in trackless mechanised sections

• Underground allowance for every shift below surface
• Medical aid and mine medical station access
• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Write your blasting certificate number and date of issue near the top of the CV.
