Diesel Fitter (Forklift Fleet)

Every hour a truck stands still costs money. This long-distance trucking fleet in Kimberley needs a mechanic who can fix it quickly. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is Kimberley-based, with most of your time spent at a long-distance trucking fleet. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Fault-find AdBlue and aftertreatment systems on newer engines
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing

• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• Solid understanding of air brake systems

• Mention roadside or field experience. Many fleets need mechanics who can work alone at a breakdown.
