Job Description

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the agricultural equipment dealer in Soweto. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at an agricultural equipment dealer.

What you'll actually do

Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck
Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system

Must-haves

Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
Solid understanding of air brake systems
Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines

Extra points for

Hydraulic systems training
PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
