Diesel Mechanic (Trackless Mobile Machinery)

This platinum mine engineering department near Bellville needs a trade-tested artisan who is safe, quick and thorough on breakdowns. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Bellville-based, with most of your time spent at a platinum mine engineering department. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Test and maintain flameproof electrical equipment in coal sections
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines

• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• Certificate of fitness for underground or surface work
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits

• Experience with collision avoidance systems on TMM
• SAP PM module experience
• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines

• Housing support in the mining town
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
