Diesel Mechanic (Trackless Mobile Machinery) – Permanent

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The diamond mine processing plant near Secunda needs you on that team. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Secunda. Relocation is not covered for this one.

• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Isolate and lock out machines under the site isolation procedure
• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Take part in weekend shutdowns for major overhauls

• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine

• Study assistance for engineering qualifications
• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay

• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
