Mechanised Development Miner (Trackless)

Have a blasting certificate and a clean safety record? The underground platinum mine near Middelburg (MP) needs your crew leadership. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll report in Middelburg (MP). Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Charge up holes and connect initiation systems for the blast
• Bar down loose rock and install support to the section's support standard
• Report misfires straight away and handle them strictly by the procedure
• Record face advance, tons broken and support installed on the shift report
• Mark off drilling holes to the standard pattern and check the drilling
• Clear the area, post guards and blast on time as the blasting certificate allows
• Test for flammable gas and check ventilation before and after blasting

• Grade 12 or equivalent, plus the MQA-accredited miner training
• Able to lead a crew of 8 to 20 people in a language they understand
• Certificate of fitness from the mine medical station, including heat tolerance screening where required
• At least 3 years underground, with at least 1 as a certificated miner
• Sound knowledge of your commodity's mining method and support standards

• Production bonus based on metres or square metres achieved
• Pension fund with employer contributions
• Housing or living-out allowance
• Underground allowance for every shift below surface

• List each mine, commodity and mining method on your CV, like "conventional stoping, platinum, 4 years".
• Be honest about any section 54 stoppages you were involved in and what you changed after.
