Diesel Technician (Bus Depot) – Permanent

Keep trucks on the road and earning at the municipal bus depot in Brakpan. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

The work is in Brakpan, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Attend roadside breakdowns in the service truck

• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant
• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs

• PrDP for road tests with loaded vehicles
• Auto electrical skills
• Brand-specific heavy vehicle courses
