Dispatch Assistant (Building Materials)

You'll load and offload trucks at a cement and brick yard in Montague Gardens so every delivery goes out full and correct. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Montague Gardens-based, with most of your time spent at a cement and brick yard.

• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop

• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• No criminal record
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts

• Basic furniture assembly skills
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
