Dispatch Assistant (Building Materials)

Delivery days start early in Potchefstroom, and a container unpacking yard needs you on the bay before the trucks roll. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is in Potchefstroom (North West). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off

• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• No criminal record
• Friendly with customers at the door
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day

• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• Keep your CV to one page with your phone number big and clear. Depot managers phone, they seldom email.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
