Dispatch Controller (Distribution Depot)

Get off the road and into the control office at a road freight company in Ballito. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

You'll be based at a road freight company in Ballito. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check driver hours so nobody drives too long without rest
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Matric
• Calm and decisive when things go wrong
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Logistics or supply chain certificate
• Previous truck driving experience
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform

• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager
• Office-based work with a steady roster

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
