Dispatch Controller (Distribution Depot)

You'll plan the loads and watch the trucks for a road freight company in Hammarsdale, keeping every trip on time. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Hammarsdale. Relocation is not covered for this one. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Keep a register of PrDP and licence expiry dates for all drivers

• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations

• Transport management system (TMS) experience
• Logistics or supply chain certificate

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
