Dispatch Controller (Distribution Depot)

Trucks, drivers, loads and deadlines all meet on your screen at a distribution depot in Middelburg (MP). It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a distribution depot in Middelburg (MP). Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system
• Plan daily loads to use full truck capacity
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests

• Good with Excel and email
• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric
• Able to work shifts in a 24-hour control office
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics

• Knowledge of cross-border documentation
• Experience on a vehicle telematics platform
• Transport management system (TMS) experience

• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Growth to transport manager

• If you drove trucks before, say so. Controllers who know the road earn quick respect from drivers.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
