Dispensary Assistant (Hospital Pharmacy) – Entry Level

Work under a registered pharmacist at a community retail pharmacy in Bellville and keep the dispensary running smoothly. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Bellville, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Help customers choose over-the-counter and front-shop products
• Process medical aid claims and fix rejections before the patient leaves
• Do cycle counts and flag stock discrepancies to the responsible pharmacist
• Log Schedule 5 and 6 items in the register as they go out
• Receive stock, check expiry dates and pack shelves first-expiry-first-out
• Record cold-chain fridge temperatures twice a day

• SAPC registration as a Pharmacist's Assistant (Basic or Post-Basic)
• Able to work Saturdays and some Sundays on a rotation
• Accurate with numbers and careful with labels
• Working knowledge of a dispensing system such as Unisolv, Proscript or Healthbridge-linked software
• Matric with Maths or Maths Literacy
• Understanding of medical aid claim codes and PMB chronic rules

• Registered for the Post-Basic qualification if you currently hold Basic
• Experience in a courier or chronic medication pharmacy
• Experience with stock ordering through a wholesaler portal

• Paid SAPC registration fees at some groups
• Sponsored Post-Basic studies for Basic assistants
• Fixed rota published a month ahead
