Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

You'll keep a townhouse in a security complex in Cape Town CBD clean, calm and running smoothly for the family. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The work is in Cape Town CBD, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Water indoor plants and feed pets
• Get children ready for school and supervise homework in the afternoon
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Change bed linen and make beds
• Wash, hang, iron and fold the household's laundry
• Keep a list of cleaning supplies running low for the employer

• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• South African ID or valid work permit
• Neat, organised and able to work without being supervised
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Able to speak and understand basic English

• Basic first aid or child CPR course
• Cooking experience with family meals

• Written contract with fixed hours and duties
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer

• Ask for a written contract and to be registered for UIF. Good employers expect the question and it protects you.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
