Domestic Helper (3 Days a Week)

Cleaning, laundry and a hand with the kids: that is the week in a guesthouse with family quarters in Pinetown. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Pinetown-based, with most of your time spent at a guesthouse with family quarters. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Wash dishes and keep the kitchen tidy after meals
• Prepare simple meals or school lunches when asked
• Clean windows and patio doors once a week
• Help an elderly person with meals, medication reminders and light walking
• Water indoor plants and feed pets

• South African ID or valid work permit
• Trustworthy, with references from previous employers you can share
• Good with children and patient
• Able to handle a full-day physical routine
• Able to speak and understand basic English
• Willing to follow the family's house rules and routines

• Experience caring for an older person
• Cooking experience with family meals

• Registered for UIF and COIDA by the employer
• Paid annual leave and public holidays as the law requires
• Own room with bathroom for live-in posts
• Written contract with fixed hours and duties

• Families hire on trust, so make references your strongest part. Write the employer's name, suburb, years worked and phone number for each one.
• Say plainly what you can and cannot do: cooking, ironing, childcare, driving. It avoids arguments later and families like honesty.
