Drainage Plumber (Blockages & CCTV)

This private hospital maintenance department in Brackenfell needs a plumber who arrives on time, fixes it properly and leaves the site clean. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Brackenfell, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens
• Clear blocked drains with a rodding machine and inspect lines with a drain camera
• Replace burst geysers and fit vacuum breakers, drip trays and pressure control valves to SANS 10254
• Issue plumbing Certificates of Compliance for completed installations
• Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings

• Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
• Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
• Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
• PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs

• Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
• SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
• Heat pump and solar geyser installation experience

• Fully stocked service van with a fuel card
• Protective clothing and safety boots replaced yearly
• Paid PIRB renewal fee

• Put your PIRB number at the top of your CV. Insurance contractors check it before they read anything else.
• Mention how many geyser replacements you do in a normal month. It is the number most plumbing managers ask about.
