Drill Rig Operator (Surface Blast Holes)

If you run a machine safely and hit your cycle times, this contract mining company near Potchefstroom will keep you busy. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Potchefstroom, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

• Report defects and lock out the machine for the maintenance crew
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump

• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider

• Fatigue management or defensive driving training
• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Certificates on two or more machine types

• Annual performance bonus
• Company bus from nearby towns to the mine gate
• Shift allowance for night and weekend shifts

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
