Driver's Assistant (Parcel Routes)

You'll load and offload trucks at a beverage depot in Bloemfontein so every delivery goes out full and correct. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

The work is in Bloemfontein, Free State, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Ride with the driver and carry goods into customers' premises
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off

• Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• No criminal record
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Friendly with customers at the door

• Basic furniture assembly skills
• Past work as a driver's assistant
• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
