Job Description

You'll load and offload trucks at a beverage depot in Durban Central so every delivery goes out full and correct. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Durban Central-based, with most of your time spent at a beverage depot. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

The work, day to day

Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals

What you need

Willing to travel on routes that return late
Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
No criminal record
Friendly with customers at the door
Comfortable starting from 04:00 or working late loading shifts

Nice if you have

Past work as a driver's assistant
Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
