Shoppers in Richards Bay judge a neighbourhood supermarket by its shelves, and that is where you come in. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a neighbourhood supermarket. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Build promotional displays at the ends of aisles
• Check sell-by dates and pull expired stock for the manager
• Weigh, bag and price fruit and vegetables
• Put up price tickets and promotion shelf strips
• Pack shelves from the back, rotating older stock to the front (first in, first out)
• Clean spills fast and put up wet-floor signs
• Face products so labels point forward and gaps are filled

• Available for weekends, month-end and public holidays
• Able to stand and lift cases all shift
• Neat appearance and punctual
• Basic reading and maths for price checks
• Honest, since stock losses are checked closely

• Previous shelf packing or merchandising work
• Being 18 or older for liquor store roles

• Paid training in store procedures
• Travel allowance on merchandising routes
• Chance to move into till or department roles

• If you have ever sold anything, even at a school tuck shop or a family stall, list it. It shows you are comfortable with customers.
• Hand your CV in at the store in person, early in the week, and ask for the store or receiving manager by name.
