Driver's Assistant (Parcel Routes)

Strong back, sharp eyes on the load sheet: that is what a parcel sorting hub in Umlazi wants. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first

• Willing to travel on routes that return late
• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• No criminal record

• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• Keep your CV to one page with your phone number big and clear. Depot managers phone, they seldom email.
