ECD Practitioner (Toddler Class)

Little ones at a community creche in East London learn through play, and you'll set up that play. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a community creche on the East London side of Eastern Cape. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
• Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
• Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
• Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
• Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day

• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• Paediatric first aid certificate
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
• Matric

• Experience with children with special needs
• Montessori diploma or Reggio-inspired training
• Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities

• Lunch provided on school days
• Sponsored ECD Level 5 studies
• Short holiday closures over December and Easter

• Apply for the Form 30 check early, as it can take weeks and many creches won't appoint without it.
• Put your ECD level and first aid certificate in the first lines of your CV; creches check these before anything else.
