Job Description

Songs, stories, sandpits and routines: help a Montessori pre-school in George give children a strong start. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

This post is in George (Western Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

The work, day to day

Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
Chat to parents at drop-off and pick-up about how the day went
Follow the NCF daily programme and adapt it for each age group

You'll need

Matric
Paediatric first aid certificate
Warm, patient and energetic with small children
ECD Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, or currently studying towards one
Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance
Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer

Helpful, not essential

Experience with children with special needs
Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
