Electrical Artisan (Trade Tested) – Immediate Start

You'll wire, fault-find and certify installations for the solar and backup power installer in Pietermaritzburg. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Pietermaritzburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
• Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls

• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Valid Code 08 driver's licence
• Solid working knowledge of SANS 10142-1 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes

• Solar PV installation training and experience with hybrid inverters
• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test

• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
