Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

The manufacturing plant in Centurion needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

You'll be based at a manufacturing plant in Centurion. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software

• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate

• Protection or HV operating authorisation
• PLC programming certification
• Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)

• Flexible hours on design days

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer
