Job Description

The municipal electricity department in Krugersdorp needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Location: Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first.

The work, day to day

Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning

Must-haves

Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

Extra points for

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
PLC programming certification
