Job Description

The water treatment utility in Midrand needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a water treatment utility in Midrand. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

What your day looks like

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Inspect installations and sign off compliance on completion

You'll need

BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
