Job Description

The manufacturing plant in Pinetown needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Pinetown-based, with most of your time spent at a manufacturing plant. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

What you'll actually do

Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date

What you need

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

Helpful, not essential

Protection or HV operating authorisation
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
