Electrical Engineer (GCC Factories)

From MV switchgear to PLCs, this municipal electricity department in Sandton needs a sharp electrical engineer. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Sandton (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date
• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
• Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
• At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating

• Clear path to associate or senior engineer

• List projects with their voltage level, size in kVA or MW, and whether you designed, supervised or commissioned.
