Mechanical Design Engineer (Materials Handling)

This petrochemical plant in Tembisa needs a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable on the plant floor as in the design office. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a petrochemical plant on the Tembisa side of Gauteng. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
• Hold the GMR 2.1 appointment and keep machinery safety legal on site
• Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
• Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
• Prepare the maintenance budget and report monthly on spend
• Design conveyors, chutes and structures in SolidWorks or Inventor
• Plan and track preventive maintenance in the CMMS with the artisans and planners

• Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
• Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations
• Able to manage contractors and budgets
• BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
• Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations

• Project management certificate
• Experience with SAP PM for maintenance
