Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The municipal electricity department in Durban Central needs you to make it so. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

What your day looks like

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres

You'll need

Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
