Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The electrical consulting engineering firm in Vanderbijlpark needs you to make it so. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll report in Vanderbijlpark. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What your day looks like

Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
Review PLC and SCADA logic for process control and alarms
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

Must-haves

Strong understanding of SANS 10142 and the Electrical Installation Regulations
Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
Code 08 licence and willingness to travel to sites
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications

Helpful, not essential

Renewable energy project experience above 1 MW
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
Protection or HV operating authorisation
