Job Description

Got your trade test and a steady hand on a DB board? This solar and backup power installer in Lephalale needs you on the tools. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The site is in Lephalale; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What your day looks like

  • Lock out and tag out circuits before any work on live equipment
  • Read electrical layouts and mark out point positions before chasing walls
  • Install and wire distribution boards, isolators and earth leakage units to SANS 10142-1
  • Test installations and issue Certificates of Compliance where your registration allows
  • Install inverters, battery banks and changeover switches for backup power clients
  • Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations

Must-haves

  • Registered with the Department of Employment and Labour as an Installation Electrician or holding a Wireman's licence
  • Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
  • At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test
  • Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
  • Comfortable working at heights on ladders and in roof spaces

What you get

  • Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekends
  • Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
  • Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): trade test certificate plus certified copy of your ID.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Watch for a call or WhatsApp from How2Apply over the next 7 working days.
