Electrician (Mine Plant & Shafts)

When production stops, the artisans get it going again. The coal mine engineering workshop near Ermelo needs you on that team. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is Ermelo-based, with most of your time spent at a coal mine engineering workshop.

• Repair and align conveyor belt drives, pulleys and idlers
• Help with rope inspections and shaft maintenance during scheduled stoppages
• Fault-find hydraulic, electrical and engine faults on trackless machines
• Complete job cards and work orders in SAP after each task
• Carry out planned maintenance on loaders, drill rigs and utility vehicles
• Maintain pumps, fans and compressors in shafts and on surface

• Understands MHSA duties for artisans, including lockout and permits
• Willing to do standby and call-outs on a roster
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan, preferably on a mine
• Trade test certificate in your trade (diesel mechanic, fitter, electrician, boilermaker, instrumentation or rigger)
• N3 certificate or Grade 12 with maths and science
• Able to read schematics, hydraulic circuits or wiring diagrams

• Government Certificate of Competency studies in progress
• Flameproof equipment training for coal mines

• Housing support in the mining town
• Tool allowance or company-issued toolbox
• Artisan allowance on top of basic pay
• Study assistance for engineering qualifications

• State your trade and the machines or equipment you know best, for example "fitter: conveyors, crushers and pumps".
• Your trade test certificate must show the trade and the date. Keep a certified copy ready because mines verify it.
