Roof Bolter Operator (Underground Coal)

You'll operate heavy mining machines on shift at the open-pit iron ore mine near Mbombela. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is in Mbombela (Mpumalanga). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass
• Complete the pre-use inspection checklist for your trackless mobile machine
• Keep radio contact with the dispatch controller and follow the right-of-way rules
• Log loads, cycle times and machine hours on the onboard system or sheet
• Push and level material on dumps and stockpiles with the dozer
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump

• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations
• Grade 10 at minimum, with Grade 12 strongly preferred

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
• If you live near the mine, say so. Local applicants are often preferred under the Social and Labour Plan.
