Job Description

Every wall and slab on this road rehabilitation project in East London needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a road rehabilitation project on the East London side of Eastern Cape.

What you'll actually do

Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Clear rubble and load it into skips
Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work

You'll need

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
Grade 8 or higher

Nice if you have

Some experience with a jackhammer, grinder or plate compactor
Previous site work you can show with a reference
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

On offer

Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
