Every wall and slab on this low-cost housing development in Richards Bay needs labourers, and the crew needs one more. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a low-cost housing development. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
• Clear rubble and load it into skips

• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites
• Grade 8 or higher
• Willing to start early, often at 06:30
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather

• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
